Accuracy in Media

WASHINGTON — Google is building a car that does not have steering wheels, recent reports say. They are small electric cars that seat two passengers, but grabbed the attention of the public at the Code conference in Southern California.

Reuters reported that the cars also do not have accelerator pedals or brake pads, making it one of the first self-driving cars.

Google plans on building up to 200 cars soon, and hopes that more will be available upon expansion. They have tested such cars since 2009, working with automobile partners. The new cars operate almost exclusively autonomously, but require a person in certain situations.
