Accuracy in Media

WASHINGTON — All the start-up successes are being bought out, one by one. The most recent? The crowd-sourcing map app Waze.

googleMade in Israel, Waze uses updates from drivers on the road to tell other drivers on the Waze app of impending traffic jams, accidents and traffic flow.

Reuters reports that Waze has about 47 million members and was offered about $1 billion by Facebook. Google’s offer seems to have won out and should be higher than Facebook’s offer.

Map apps are one of the most-used mobile apps to get users from one place to another, and now tech and social media giants are closing in on that industry.
