WASHINGTON — A group of German hackers made the claim that they hacked the vaunted and heavily anticipated iPhone fingerprint scanner this past Sunday, two days after the new iPhone series was released.

iphone touch idReuters reported that this security protocol, which Apple claimed would increase security from criminals and hackers seeking access to user’s phones, would be embarrassing if broken into that quickly.

This new feature was supposed to set the iPhone apart from Apple’s chief competitors in Samsung and others with Google’s Android operating system. The group, the Chaos Computing Club or CCC, defeated this Touch ID technology but admitted they had not replicated it after their initial hack.
