WASHINGTON — The French Socialists have again tried to limit free market capitalism and continues to do so against large firms like Amazon and Google.
Reuters reports that the French Socialist government is considering a limit on Amazon’s free delivery service and discounts, saying that it is “unfair competition”.
This comes on the heels of the Google Tax, where France was looking to hike taxes on large firms like Google. Amazon has also received flak for its tax practices in Britain and Apple has been criticized for paying taxes in Ireland.
It is another wrinkle in relations between the French government and American companies like Amazon and Google, where France demands that these American companies should pay more in taxes.
