Egyptian Violence Rising as 2 Army Officers, 1 Teenager killed

WASHINGTON — In a wave of violence, ten people were killed between a clash of protesters and Egyptian police and a shootout between Egyptian soldiers and Islamist militants.

Eight additional militants were arrested in a raid on a Islamist militant weapons storage location north of Cairo, where the two soldiers were killed. The raid targeted members of Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis, the most active Islamist militant group in Egypt.

A 13-year-old teenage boy was shot and a man were killed during the protests. Twelve protesters were arrested during the clashes.
