WASHINGTON — The surviving Boston Bomber, Dzhokar Tsarnaev, is now undergoing formal American trial.
Reuters reports that the younger Tsarnaev was indicted on 30 charges and 4 murders, but it still will not heal all wounds left in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing. Tsarnaev and his older brother, Tamerlan, masterminded and executed a terrible plot to cause havoc and death.
They used two pressure-cooker bombs and killed 4 and maimed and disabled countless others. The city and nation bonded together as Boston was on lockdown to hunt the terrorist Tsarnaev brothers.
They were on the run and were caught by the Boston police, and Tamerlan was killed as Dzhokar drove away and left his brother to die. Dzhokar was later found huddled and hidden in a Boston citizen’s boat.
What is usually unmentioned is how the Tamerland brothers, who were ethnic Chechnyans, were able to carry out such a plot. Tamerlan radicalized and become an extreme Islamist after a trip to the volatile Islamist region of Dagestan. Russian authorities told the FBI about this trip and Tamerlan’s possible extremism, but that was in vain.
But, the city of Boston remain “Boston Strong” throughout the tragedy and most likely will do so during this trial.
