Astronaut exits Space Station with Music Video

WASHINGTON — Before he comes back to earth, a Canadian astronaut aboard the International Space Station has gone out on his terms: a music video version of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity”.

astronaut music [1]According to the Associated Press [2] and NASA, it seems to be the first music video made in space.

The astronaut, Canada’s own Chris Hadfield, had his version of “Space Oddity” posted on YouTube a day before his official departure from the International Space Station. He is at the end of a five-month mission to the station.

Hadfield returned to earth with two others, American astronaut Thomas Marshburn and Russian Roman Romanenko, via a Russian Soyuz capsule. As we previously reported, the U.S. is paying up to $70 million per astronaut [3] to send them into space, something that NASA chief Charles Bolden is upset about.

Hadfield is a longtime guitarist and had played in an astronaut rock ‘n’ roll band. His video was taken throughout the space station and had some help from a Canadian music team.
