WASHINGTON — Apple saw its profits slide during September and as a result, investors and analysts remain skeptical of Apple’s holiday season sales.

iphone 5Reuters reported that Apple’s profits fell as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook predicted a “really great” holiday sales season for the company.

Apple sold 33.8 million iPhones in September and saw its revenue in China grow only 6% as it introduced two smartphone iPhone models to consumers. Apple is competing with’s newest version of their Kindle Fire product in addition to their rivals Samsung and Google-powered Android smartphones.

Apple launched its newest iPhone version 5S and 5C to compete with Samsung’s two-tiered smartphone pricing model. The 5S is the more costly version and the 5C is the colorful, cheaper alternative. The 5C starts at a price of $99 with a contract.
