WASHINGTON — Apple Inc., the maker of the iPhone, now has to face a lawsuit about vanishing text messages.

Reuters reported the case, Moore et al v. Apple Inc, claims consumers did not receive notice that their iMessage text message system would not let them receive incoming text messages if users switched to Android-based smartphones.

The plaintiff, Adrienne Moore, claimed the “message blocking interfered with her contract with Verizon Wireless for wireless service, which she kept after switching in April to a Samsung Galaxy S5 from an iPhone 4,” said Reuters.

It violated, according to Judge Koh, a federal judge, the state of California’s unfair competition law.

Apple has since tried to remedy the problem, but will still face this lawsuit in court.
