Think Progress editor Elham Khatami criticized President Trump’s threat to send New York City terrorist suspect Sayfullo Saipov to the military prison at Guantanamo Bay.
“I would certainly consider it. Send him to Gitmo,” Trump told the media on Wednesday.
Khatami responded with a tweet asking why Trump didn’t say the same thing about Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock, who killed 58 people last month.
Thank you! Trump should have sent Paddock's dead body to Gitmo. I've been saying this for weeks. pic.twitter.com/wqmawoUUqn

Maybe Trump would have considered it if Paddock hadn’t been killed. After being roasted on Twitter, Khatami deleted her original tweet and admitted her mistake, but added a racial element, saying that Trump’s tone was harsher in the NYC case because Saipov is a person of color.
Hi hi yes, I misspoke about the Vegas shooter, but the point stands: Trump's rhetoric is much harsher when the criminal is a PoC.

It was all about race and not terrorism, apparently.
