Former White House press secretary and current MSNBC contributor Robert Gibbs appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Monday and took a swipe at New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd, after her latest column critical of President Obama appeared on Sunday.
Gibbs was asked by Mika Brzezinski whether or not he had read Dowd’s latest column.
I don’t normally read Maureen.
“Oh, yes, you do, yes you do,” said Brzezinski
I don’t, largely because it’s sort of largely the same column for the last, like, eight years.
Politico contacted Dowd, who emailed them her response.
I don’t normally listen to Robert. I don’t largely because it’s sort of largely the same tired defense of President Obama for the last, like, six years.
Tit for tat.
While I’m no fan of Dowd, she is right on target with her assessment of Gibbs. As Obama’s press secretary, he was the administration’s chief apologist, and continued in that role when he jumped to the President’s reelection campaign, before finally landing at the Obama news network, more commonly known as MSNBC.
I don’t know whether or not Gibbs has been reading Dowd’s column for the last eight years, but he’s probably still a little peeved at her after she called for his ouster in 2010.
