Accuracy in Media

New York Times executive editor Bill Keller ruminating on various subjects at a New York Press Club event late last week had some harsh criticism of Fox News.

According to The Cutline Keller had this to say when asked about Fox News Channel:

“I think if you’re a regular viewer of Fox News, you’re among the most cynical people on planet Earth,” Keller snarled. “I cannot think of a more cynical slogan than ‘Fair and Balanced’

More cynical than the Times’ slogan of ‘All the News That’s Fit to Print’ which I interpret as ‘All the Liberal News That We can Print.’

Fox News which has never been one to shrink from a fight fired back with a rebuttal from veteran reporter Liz Trotta who called  the Times a “throwaway newspaper.”

Keller joins a long list of liberals in the media who have attacked Fox over the years solely out of jealousy for the network’s success.

Fox News continues to dominate the cable news ratings and is extremely profitable while Keller’s paper has struggled to remain financially viable and faces a murky future as readers abandon traditional newspapers for the internet and other forms of quick news.

Keller may win some plaudits from his liberal buddies for his remarks but the fact remains that he is at the helm of a sinking ship.
