MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough was duped yesterday after he tweeted a response to an old fake tweet that appeared to come from President Trump’s Twitter account.
The tweet in question said that “if the Dow Joans ever falls more than 1,000 points in a single day,” the president should be shot out of a cannon.
I agree, Mr. President. pic.twitter.com/OtM9f6K5oz

In a now-deleted tweet, Scarborough asked “What if it drops more than 2,000 “points” in a “Single Day”?
Scarborough wasn’t the only person to fall for the tweet which carried a 2015 date, as never-Trumper Rick Wilson tweeting that he agreed with the president and CNN’s Reza Aslan tweeting “I’ll get the cannon.” Aslan later tweeted that while the tweet was fake “The stupid? Very real.”
This tweet is fake. The stupid? Very real.

Daily Caller editor Peter Hasson did get Scarborough to apologize for his tweet.
Peter, thanks for calling attention to the deficit. I’m going to look up the articles right now. And thank you for calling attention to the tweet. I’m sorry for being less than mindful in my reaction. I was doing too many things at once and responded in haste. My apologies. https://t.co/peTFLPzHN4
