Accuracy in Media

MSNBC reporter Ali Velshi, while covering the riots in Minneapolis sparked by the death of George Floyd while in police custody told viewers with a building fire in the background that “I want to be clear on how I characterize this. This is mostly a protest. It is not, generally speaking unruly, but fires have been started.”

Maybe it wasn’t “unruly” at the moment, he was reporting, but how exactly did the fire start? Do peaceful protesters usually start fires? Incredible!

It’s one thing to peacefully protest, it’s another thing to loot and set fire to private property all in the name of social justice or human rights.

What we need is honest and accurate reporting on this issue and not a narrative created by the media to justify this outrageous behavior.
