Accuracy in Media

MSNBC, which has been struggling in the ratings for almost two years, received more bad news this week when it was revealed that the network’s ratings plunged in January.

The network was down 23% in total primetime viewership and a whopping 39% in the A25-54 demo, compared to January 2014.

The daytime ratings were almost as bad, with drops of 20% in total viewership and 37% in the demo.

The Rachel Maddow Show, which is MSNBC’s top-rated program, fell off a cliff in January losing 50% of it’s audience in the demo (305,000 to 153,000) and falling from the fifth most-watched program on cable news in the demo to No. 26.

The news was equally as grim for Morning Joe, which fell to No. 47 in the cable news demo from No. 28, and was fourth in the morning demo behind Fox and Friends, CNN’s New Day and HLN’s Morning Express.

Based on the latest ratings the “Lean Forward” network looks more like The Biggest Loser.
