In an interview with Howard Kurtz of The Daily Beast MSNBC president Phil Griffin that host Ed Schultz may have gone a little too far on occasion.
“There are times I tell him he goes over the top and that TV is different than radio,” Griffin acknowledges. “A couple of times he’s crossed the line. I said, ‘Ed, you ran down the field 100 yards and you spiked the ball. Don’t spike the ball!’”
Schultz is an unapologetic liberal that has found a home in MSNBC’s far left lineup and despite Griffin’s comments is unlikely to change since his over the top comments may have actually helped and not hurt his ratings and that’s what Griffin really cares about.
And since MSNBC is a news operation (according to Rachel Maddow) as opposed to rival Fox News this is perfectly acceptable.
