Accuracy in Media

While appearing at a Poynter Institute panel on Tuesday, Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski lamented the outburst of MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews against RNC Chairman Reince Priebus.

Scarborough told the audience that he and Mika love Chris and he will be back on the show again, but they were upset that the show “wasted five minutes of the audience’s time” while Matthews went on his rant which did “absolutely nothing to illuminate the conversation.”

Brzezinski said that the show strives for a civil tone and thought that “things went off the rails a little bit, and it wasn’t our best show.”

That’s what happens when you let Matthews turn your show into a morning version of Hardball.

Matthews has become a Johnny one-note when it comes to accusing the Republican Party of racism, especially this week. He has made every legitimate discussion of the issues by the Republicans into a veiled reference to Obama’s race, and in the process, turning reason on its head.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see Matthews on Morning Joe next week fawning over DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz during the Democratic convention, in stark contrast to his treatment of Priebus this week.
