CNN’s Leyla Santiago, reporting from a bus containing migrants from Central America through Mexico and heading towards the U.S., said the migrants would be staying in Mexico, but her statement wasn’t backed up by those on the bus.
“They are fleeing violence from gangs that are controlling the areas in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, where they live,” Santiago said. “Many of them will stay in Mexico.”
“Who will stay in Mexico?” she asked the bus in Spanish.
No one raised their hands.
“Who will go to the United States?” she then asked.
Most of the bus raised their hands, while a few didn’t answer.
