Accuracy in Media

Just when you thought Marion Barry would go quietly into retirement he become my choice for the title of “Comeback Kid” for his remarkable victory in the recent D.C. primary for the city council. Barry, who served four terms as mayor and two on the city council, soundly defeated incumbent Sandy Allen by capturing 57% of the vote to Allen’s 25%. Since the registration in D.C. is about 10-1 in the democrats favor this assures Barry of another chance to revive his political career.

Barry who has served time in prison for cocaine possession and has had other incidents related to drugs and alcohol seemingly can do no wrong in the eyes of the voters. Maybe the voters think there is a new Marion Barry on the scene, but I expect that they will get the same ideas that bankrupted the city when he was mayor will return to haunt them.

Talk about the need for voter education.
