MSNBC ‘s ratings woes continued in May with the liberal cable network recording double-digit losses in all major categories.
The network was down 14 percent among total viewers for both total day and primetime. In the key A25-54 demo, which is closely watched by advertisers, MSNBC was down 18 percent in total day and 19 percent in primetime. It was the least watched month in primetime total viewers since December 2007.
The Rachel Maddow Show had its second-lowest rated month ever in total viewers and its third-lowest rated month in the key demo, trailing CNN in the latter category by a margin of 224,000 to 145,000 viewers.
Despite the poor results, MSNBC president Phil Griffin has done almost nothing to address the ongoing ratings woes, calling into question his ability to run the network, much less turn it around before it becomes completely irrelevant.
