Trash tv talk show host Jerry Springer will be bringing his act to Boston this summer as an at large delegate to the Democratic National Convention for Ohio. Springer who was the Mayor of Cincinnati from 1978-81 was just named the Ohio Democrat of the year by the state party. He will be one of 159 delegates and 24 alternates from Ohio attending the convention.
Springer, who earlier turned down a run for the U.S. Senate has set his sights on running for Governor in 2006 when the seat becomes open or a possible Senate run against Republican incumbent Michael DeWine.
It will be hard to imagine Springer not attracting a lot of attention at the convention in July and even harder still for him to not to revert to his televison persona and look to stir up a good fight for the cameras. Actually the convention will probably need some spicing up with a bland John Kerry being the central focus of the event. It would have been interesting to see Springer at a convention with Bill Clinton as the nominee.
