Accuracy in Media

I have not been a big fan of recycling, but my family dutifully sorts out the paper and plastics every week and I just figure it’s a part of mu life now, but I don’t go out of my way to do so.

This week while visiting with my brother-in-law I got a glimpse of how far one can go on the recycling front.  His refrigerator was stocked with yogurt for the family.  I noticed though that after eating the yogurt the kids didn’t throw away the cups but washed them out.  I was curious about this and at first thought maybe it had something to do with a project for one of the children.  Imagine my surprise when I found out that this was being done so the cups could be recycled.

Now exactly how much time and energy is being expended washing out those tiny cups that you can barely get a couple of fingers in to make them pristine enough for recycling?
