Accuracy in Media

Once again the national GOP leaders have reacted to criticism from the democrats by caving in to them. According to press reports, Morton Blackwell a delegate to the convention and president of The Leadership Institute was handing out bandages that read “it was just a self-inflicted scratch, but you see I got a Purple Heart for it.” I thought it was pretty clever and just another in a long line of political items that permeate the conventions on both sides.

Despite the fact that only 250 or so bandages were handed out at an event with over 5,000 delegates, DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe said this couldn’t have happened without the knowledge of party leaders and those ulitmately responsible to the president. Give me a break! Does McAuliffe actually believe that anyone running a convention of this size can actually control the distribution of all material? I think he doth protest too much.

What really bothers me though is that all the DNC has to do is complain and the RNC decides to halt Blackwell from handing out any more bandages. RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie said on Fox & Friends this morning that he personally asked a delegate to stop handing out bandages and the delegate complied. Whose convention is this anyway? The democrats complain and the republicans obey. I don’t think the democrats would do the same had the situation been reversed.

This incident underscores a major flaw in the republican party. Hey Ed, it’s ok to stand up and fight for what is right. Don’t let the liberal media define your agenda.
