Former Meet the Press moderator David Gregory has been hired by CNN as a political analyst, as the network prepares for the 2016 presidential campaign.
Gregory, who was unceremoniously dumped as Meet the Press moderator in 2014 after the show’s ratings tanked, has since written a book about faith, and recently appeared on CNN and Fox News commenting about the elections.
According to an internal memo, Gregory will mostly appear on the network’s New Day morning show, which competes directly with Fox and Friends and MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
In taking the job at CNN, Gregory will be reunited with his former boss at NBC, Jeff Zucker, who is now the president of CNN Worldwide.
Gregory joins a growing list of political experts recently added by CNN that includes David Axelrod, Mary Katherine Ham, Jeffrey Lord and Bill Press.
