Former CNN anchor Lynne Russell’s support of the 2nd Amendment grew stronger after her husband shot and killed an ex-felon who was holding her at gunpoint during a robbery attempt in their motel room on June 30.
Russell told police that she had left her motel room to grab something from her car when felon Tonorio Walton accosted her and forced her back into her room. Walton became agitated when Russell and her husband, former CNN reporter Chuck de Caro, took too long to gather up the items he wanted to steal. A gunfight then ensued in which de Caro–who has a Special Forces background, shot and killed Walton, while being shot three times. He is expected to fully recover.
Russell reiterated her support for legal gun ownership to FOX411:
The discussion over the debate to own a gun is just ridiculous. As Americans we have the right to bear arms and as humans the right to protect ourselves. I’m sure that the man who shot my husband did not have a gun permit. Criminals will always have guns. The rest of us legally obtain our gun permits.
If you don’t want to carry, please don’t. Then, shut the f–k up about it. Make your own decisions.
She wishes the government (aka liberal politicians) would stop arguing about gun control and pass a law that states, “If you committed a violent crime you can’t get a gun permit. Simple law.”
That may be simple for Russell, but not for liberal politicians, aided by the liberal media, who continue to cite the number of deadly shootings committed by criminals as a reason for increased gun control. That same media, which has covered Russell’s ordeal, have largely ignored her pro-2nd Amendment statements.
