Katie Couric doing her wrap up of 2010 with The Daily Show regular Mo Rocca on the issue what she perceived as the increased bigotry against Muslims mainly due to the controversy surrounding the Park51 mosque suggested that “Maybe we need a Muslim version of The Cosby Show” in an effort to mainstream the religion.
Couric told Rocca the following leading up to her Cosby moment;
I also think sort of the chasm between, or, the bigotry expressed against Muslims in this country has been one of the most disturbing stories to surface this year. Of course, a lot of noise was made about the Islamic Center, mosque, down near the World Trade Center, but I think there wasn’t enough sort of careful analysis and evaluation of where this bigotry toward 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide, and how this seething hatred many people feel for all Muslims, which I think is so misdirected, and so wrong—and so disappointing.
What is disappointing is watching and listening to liberal mainstream media types like Couric who conveniently forget the horror and tragedy that the terrorists that attacked America on 9/11 wreaked on this country in the name of Islam. And that even today there are attempts at doing even more damage for the same reason.
Maybe Katie should first take a trip to some Islamic countries to see just how tolerant they are of other religions especially Christians and then she might realize who the real bigots are.
By the way reported hate crimes against Muslims in New York last year was 11 while there were 251 against Jews and 144 against Blacks.
Where was that bias again?
