During an interview on CNN Newsroom Monday, anchor Poppy Harloe gave credit to President Donald Trump for enacting travel restrictions from China in the early phase of the coronavirus outbreak.
Harlow was discussing the Trump administration’s COVID-19 policies with CNN national security analyst Mark Mazzetti when she made her remarks.
“Every expert agrees now, looking back, that the president’s call to restrict that travel from China pretty early on was a good decision. The question is just what else could have been done in the subsequent weeks.”
Trump was criticized by World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who said the travel restrictions weren’t necessary at the time and liberals who feared that it would lead to discrimination against Asians.
