CNN Politics executive editor Mark Preston said Tuesday during an appearance on CNN’s New Day that for all the Democrats’ complaints about the Republican plan to replace Obamacare, they “haven’t offered any solutions” of their own.
Preston was also critical of Obamacare.
“The current system is flawed as well, and it needs to be fixed,” Preston said.
CNN’s Poppy Harlow interjected that that fact has been lost on a lot of people: “The fact that – Aetna calls it a death spiral, Humana’s out, a lot of people only have one provider to choose from, they can’t afford it, they’re not getting covered – that has been lost. The onus is also on Democrats. What are they going to do to fix the existing plan?”
“Right, and they haven’t offered any solutions,” Preston said.
The Democrats have done nothing but criticize the American Health Care Act—the official name of the Republicans’ plan to replace Obamacare—with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) labeling it as “Make America Sick Again.”
Rather than come up with an alternative, Democrats have doubled down on their defense of Obamacare, while ignoring the realities of failed health exchanges and soaring premiums.
