Politico’s Dylan Byers reported today that Meet the Press host Chuck Todd’s wife Kristian Denny Todd is working with former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb to explore a 2016 presidential bid.
“She’s been helping and advising him,” Webb spokesperson Jessica Vanden Berg told Byers.
Todd, a Democratic strategist, worked for Webb as his 2006 Senate campaign communications director but isn’t currently being paid for her work, according to campaign spending reports for his PAC.
Webb, who launched his exploratory committee last month, is seen as one of a number of potential challengers from the left to the expected campaign of Hillary Clinton, who has been taking a beating lately from the left-wing press in advance of her expected candidacy.
The question now will be, if Webb’s campaign actually gets off the ground, how will Chuck Todd cover the race? Will he be able to resist not favoring Webb over the other potential Democratic candidates, or will he overcompensate and give Hillary and the others too much coverage?
