ABC’s This Week host Christiane Amanpour took a shot at GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain yesterday before getting her interview rolling with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Amanpour: An official autopsy report confirms Muammar Gaddafi was killed by a shot to the head. The transition government has been under international pressure to explain the circumstances of Gaddafi’s death. And Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in the region. I spoke with her about the changes in Libya and the administration’s decision to pull all American troops from Iraq. Madam Secretary, thank you for joining us. Are you in Herman Cain’s famously designated “Beki-Beki-Beki-stan?”
Clinton: (laughs) Well, you know, there’s a 0-0-0 chance I’m going to comment on Republican politics, but I am in Uzbekistan.
That was sooo funny. Not. I wonder how long it took Amanpour to come up with that line. And Clinton was ready with her 0-0-0 line, taking her own shot at Cain’s now famous 9-9-9 tax plan.
Amanpour apparently just couldn’t resist throwing that line at Clinton and revealing her own bias despite the fact that the interview was about Moammar Gaddafi and not Cain.
If Amanpour wants to be taken seriously then she needs to lay off the lame jokes for the purpose of scoring a political point with her guests. No wonder her show continues to languish in third place on Sunday.
