Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace called out Joe Biden’s campaign for skipping all the Sunday morning news shows, including his own, just as the Democratic National Convention is about to begin this week.
Wallace was a guest on Guy Benson’s Fox News radio program on Friday when he commented about the Biden campaign’s decision noting that each campaign normally makes top party officials available to preview the week ahead of their respective conventions–a practice that has been going on at least since 1988 when he started covering presidential campaigns.
“At first I thought, well, maybe it’s because it’s Fox News and they’re boycotting us,” Wallace told Benson “No! They’re not putting anybody out on any of the Sunday shows.”
The Fox News anchor was perplexed by the decision to skip all the shows which would have provided a boost to the campaign and the convention.
“I don’t understand what’s going on here,” Wallace said. “This is the damnedest thing I’ve ever seen … the Biden campaign isn’t putting anybody out.”
Wallace is very much aware of the Biden campaign keeping the presumptive nominee from speaking at public events and answering questions preferring to have him broadcast from his basement in Delaware, where he can stay on script, but thought that this strategy is unworkable if he wants to win the election.
“He continues to lead with what I’ll call the basement strategy,” Wallace said. “I don’t think you can hide from now until Election Day. I just don’t think it’s possible.”
