Accuracy in Media

On Monday, before the debate, MSNBC’s Hardball host Chris Matthews took a young Mitt Romney supporter to task for saying that Obama covered up what really happened in Libya, by suggesting that a video was responsible for the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi.

Matthews: Yeah, it was about the video. Read the newspaper.

That was fact versus fiction. The Romney supporter was right and Matthews was wrong. The administration’s original contention that an anti-Muslim video was responsible for the attack has been proven to be incorrect. A fact that even Chris Matthews surely knows.

Matthews knows that the truth about what happened in Libya is a black eye for the Obama administration, and as he showed last night, he’s willing to do just about anything, including being derisive of a member of his own audience to try to shield  the President from further criticism.

If anyone needs to read a newspaper it’s Matthews.
