Bloomberg News resumes ‘normal coverage’ of the election after boss drops out

Bloomberg News announced that it will resume “normal coverage” of the 2020 presidential election now that the company’s billionaire founder and owner Michael Bloomberg has dropped out of the race.
“Now that Mike has said he is leaving the race for President, we will return to our normal coverage of the election; we will follow exactly the same coverage rules for the Democratic presidential candidates and President Donald Trump. We will disclose Mike’s financial support for other Democrats — just as we have always done where his financial support for political causes is relevant to our reporting,” wrote Bloomberg News editor-in-chief John Micklethwait in a memo to the staff on Wednesday.
When Bloomberg announced that he was entering the race, Bloomberg News declared that it would not investigate [1] any Democratic candidate, even though they would continue to investigate Trump.
Bloomberg moved several people, including Timothy L. O’Brien, the executive editor of Bloomberg Opinion, and David Shipley, the senior executive editor, to the campaign, and it is not clear whether they will return to the company now that his quest for the presidency is over.
