Accuracy in Media

Former Vice President Joe Biden was stumped by MSNBC Morning Joe anchor Mika Brzezinski this morning when she asked the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee if he would authorize a search of his Senate archives for Tara Reade–the woman who has accused him of sexual assault 27 years ago.

“I’m just talking about her name, not anybody else in those records — a search for that. Nothing classified with the president or anybody else. I’m just asking, why not do a search for Tara Reade’s name in the University of Delaware records?” Brzezinski asked.

Biden had to think for a moment before responding, “Look, I mean, who does that search?”

Brzezinski was incredulous over Biden’s response.

“The University of Delaware,” Brzezinski said. “Perhaps you set up a commission that can do it. I don’t know, whatever is the fairest way to create the most transparency.

Brzezinski deserves credit for conducting a tough interview with Biden as she grilled him on the Tara Reade matter and for not giving up as Biden deflected her questions and stonewalled on the idea of searching his records at the University of Delaware.

A complete transcript of the interview is available here.
