The Republican National Committee and President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign raised $125 million in the third quarter of 2019. The combined $125 million was described by the Associated Press as a “presidential fundraising record.”

Outlets such as CNN, MSNBC, and HuffPost highlighted this fundraising success should serve as a major wake up call to Democrats.

On Tuesday evening the RNC said it has raised more than $308 million since the beginning of the year.

A source close to the Trump re-campaign told Accuracy in Media that “The campaign feels like it is in an excellent place as far as fundraising. Even though they get overlooked on it by the media they [the campaign] know how far ahead of the game they are.”

A senior campaign and political Democratic strategist with extensive experience in Florida and D.C. who wished to remain anonymous disagreed.

The Democratic strategist told Accuracy in Media that Trump blew out Democratic candidates because he is simply the only one in the field. “I think it’s clear Democrats are donating, so the Democratic nominee will totally compete the Trump. The question really is how much will the Ukraine scandal affect his fundraising?”

And despite the media’s hyperfocus on Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) endorsements, Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (Mass.) coalition building, Trump’s fundraising efforts has “far eclipsed that of his potential 2020 Democratic rivals.”

  • Sanders said this week he raised $25.3 million in the past three months
  • South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg brought in more than $19 million 
  • Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) raked in $11.6 million.

The third quarter concluded on Monday, which means all candidates need to report their fundraising totals to the Federal Election Commission by October 15.

In a recent article by the HuffPost the reporter said, “GOP officials have claimed that the impeached inquiry into Trump ‘supercharged’ the president’s fundraising efforts.”

While that language was not remotely close to exact – the article was still published.

In fact, Brad Parcale, Trump’s campaign manager commented on the president’s fundraising efforts.

The GOP’s efforts on media and digital have continuously been overlooked by mainstream media outlets.

In a statement this week, GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said, “We are investing millions on the airwaves and on the ground to hold House Democrats accountable, highlight their obstruction, and take back the House and re-elect President Trump in 2020.”
