Accuracy in Media

The New York Times chose to ignore recent comments from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), where she expressed skepticism about former Vice President Joe Biden’s defense against sexual assault allegations.

Ocasio-Cortez said it is “legitimate to talk about” sexual assault allegations raised against Biden.

“And if we want, if we again want to have integrity, you can’t say, you know – both believe women, support all this, until it inconveniences you, until it inconveniences us,” she said.

Former Biden Senate staffer Tara Reade aired the allegations this month and claimed Biden touched her inappropriately. Biden’s campaign denied Reade’s allegations.

Among non-mainstream media outlets, only The Hill covered the story. But the New York Times, fresh off of covering Reade’s allegations this past weekend, did not publish anything about Ocasio-Cortez’s comments.
