Miami Herald columnist Fabiola Santiago criticized Republicans again, calling them a “cult” for their support of President Donald Trump.
Six weeks before this tweet, she wrote that the coronavirus could “thin the ranks” of Republicans.
On Sunday evening, Santiago tweeted , “There’s nothing more American than Mickey and he gets it, but not the president and his cult.” Santiago’s tweet cited Disney’s tweet about the ongoing George Lloyd protests and riots, “We stand for inclusion. We stand with our fellow Black employees, storytellers, creators and the entire Black community.”
Santiago’s tweet comes six weeks after Accuracy in Media called her out for wishing Florida Republicans to die from COVID-19. On April 20, she wrote, “Packed beaches should work nicely to thin the ranks of Trump/DeSantis/Gimenez supporters in #Florida who value money over health.”
Santiago referred to Florida’s policy of opening beaches and businesses during the coronavirus pandemic. Although she deleted the tweet, it demonstrated her political leanings.
