Accuracy in Media

Now that the Mueller report has been a bust for mainstream media progressives, MSNBC has moved to personal attacks against President Trump, with MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell attacking the president’s mental health and floating the conspiracy theory that Trump suffers from Alzheimer’s.

Trump has been successful at prodding NATO allies to increase their defense spending, but this success was lost on O’Donnell, who instead criticized the president for using the word “father” instead of “grandfather” when describing his family’s history. Trump’s grandfather was born in Germany, and his father was born in New York.

“My father was born in Boston,” O’Donnell said. “My grandfather was born in Ireland, and I have never once confused that. But I’m not 72 years old, I don’t have Alzheimer’s in my family history and I’m not the President of the United States trying to convince NATO that I’m not just being mean when I ask NATO countries to spend more money on their military… There are a bunch of important questions, urgent questions about the president today that political analysis cannot answer.”

O’Donnell further posited in his speculative, ad hominem, armchair psychoanalysis that “you had a right to wonder whether the President likes to exaggerate how much we spend on defense, or actually, cannot learn the real number” or “if there is something wrong with the workings of the president’s mind.”
