Hunter Biden laptop story confirmed despite longtime media suppression

Almost a year ago, the New York Post reported information on Hunter Biden obtained from his laptop that detailed his foreign business dealings.

At the time, Twitter censored the article. Several other outlets, including MSNBC and CNN, pushed back on the story and tried to discredit it altogether. Now, Politico has confirmed some of the material on the laptop. Politico Playbook published sections of Ben Schrekinger’s book, “The Bidens,” which “delved into the emails that surfaced in the explosive reporting that was ultimately suppressed by Big Tech.,” according to Fox News.

“A person who had independent access to Hunter Biden’s emails confirmed he did receive a 2015 email from a Ukrainian businessman thanking him for the chance to meet Joe Biden. The same goes for a 2017 email in which a proposed equity breakdown of a venture with Chinese energy executives includes the line, ‘10 held by H for the big guy?’” Politico reported. “Emails released by a Swedish government agency also match emails in the leaked cache, and two people who corresponded with Hunter Biden confirmed emails from the cache were genuine.”

“While the leak contains genuine files, it remains possible that fake material has been slipped in.”

Outlets did have that information at the time, however.

That did not keep said outlets from continuing to suppress the story, however.

The Hernando Sun called the Hunter Biden story the “lie of the year.” NBC News explained why it had not reported further on it, but seeded its report with doubt. The Washington Post reported that the New York Post story was “false.” As recently reported by Project Veritas, leaked audio recordings of CNN conference calls show that top CNN executives actively pushed staff to avoid reporting on it during the election.

The very day the first Post report came out, CNN’s political director told his staff directly: “Obviously, we’re not going with the New York Post story right now on Hunter Biden.”

“The Trump media, you know, moves immediately from— OK, well, never mind — the [Flynn] unmasking was, you know, found to be completely nonsensical to the latest alleged scandal and expects everybody to just follow suit,” CNN president Jeff Zucker told his staff. “So, I don’t think that we should be repeating unsubstantiated smears just because the right-wing media suggests that we should.”

Remember how those outlets told us this was a Russian disinformation campaign? It turns out that “Russian disinformation campaign” is the best summary of coverage of the Trump presidency. They endlessly ran a disinformation campaign tying Trump to Russia, and again and again, we found out they were lying.

This is an exact repeat of the Wuhan lab leak story. The media blackballed the Hunter Biden laptop story because it was unfavorable to their ally, Joe Biden. Social media sites flagged the story. “Fact-checkers” labeled it as misinformation.

But once again, on a major story, they were dead wrong. And once again, their actions have major consequences. Because of those media outlets, because of those Big Tech companies, and because of those fact-checkers, Americans were less informed when they cast their vote in 2020. If the media and social media want to come out and admit they’re Democratic Party activists, that’s fine. But they cannot continue to pretend they exist to inform and to share information when it’s consistently undeniable that they’re more focused on blocking information that is unfavorable to their allies.

The promise of social media and of online news was that information could be shared more easily than ever. But instead of serving as a means to share information, these platforms replaced existing communications platforms and are serving as means to block politically inconvenient information. We’d expect this kind of thing in China, not in America.

Here is the real danger: Immediately before an election, the media and Big Tech led a push to burying a story that could harm their preferred candidate. They succeeded.
