CNN and the majority of the mainstream media trust the World Health Organization, which bungled the global response to the coronavirus pandemic since its onset. The cable news network extensively quoted WHO officials on whether coronavirus survivors could be re-infected at a later time.
CNN headlined the WHO’s warnings, “WHO says no evidence shows that having coronavirus prevents a second infection.”
So far, the WHO cannot confirm whether those who have recovered from the virus are immune to re-infection by the same virus. WHO published a scientific brief that warned governments against issuing “immunity passports,” which documents assumed former coronavirus patients are immune and could resume normal, pre-pandemic activities without restrictions.
However, CNN did not acknowledge the credibility issues facing the WHO since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. There was no mention of the WHO’s inability to rebut the Chinese government’s lies about the coronavirus. Instead of criticizing China’s lack of transparency about the virus, the WHO praised China’s containment attempts.
“I was very impressed by the detail and depth of China’s presentation,” WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told the media. He also praised their containment efforts as “invaluable.”
For example, the WHO has not confirmed whether the virus began at a wet market in Wuhan, China. Much of the WHO’s information came from the Chinese government, which is run by an authoritarian, communist regime. Nor did CNN criticize the WHO for not debunking Chinese government propaganda, which claimed that the U.S. military spread the virus in China.
