CNN anchor Don Lemon admitted that President Donald Trump was accurate when the president claimed that he beat singer Elton John’s crowd size at a campaign rally in New Hampshire.
In a segment on his CNN program, Lemon then went through a brief history of President Trump’s history of crowd size claims, repeatedly chuckling and teasing the president for favorably comparing his crowd sizes with those of artists and musicians (and also stating that his crowd size was much bigger than Beto O’Rourke’s).
Lemon’s implication was that Trump’s concern about crowd size was a negative character trait.
However, Lemon didn’t consider whether the president was analyzing the crowd sizes as a proxy for voter enthusiasm and turnout. President Trump’s ability to turn out large crowds in 2016 at large venues was one harbinger for his presidential victory.
