Fauci, the director for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told radio host Hugh Hewitt that Trump and the CDC are not to blame for the test delays.
Fauci said a “technical glitch” that delayed the production of usable tests in the United States. Fauci said it was an example of random error that could not have been avoided by any president.
“It was a complicated series of multiple things that conflated that just, you know, went the wrong way,” Fauci said. “One of them was a technical glitch that slowed things down in the beginning. Nobody’s fault. There wasn’t any bad guys there. It just happened.”
