I’m not a Liberal, I’m “Correct”

“I’ve been accused of being a liberal, which is interesting because the last time I was on doing the news in the late ’90’s, I did 218 consecutive shows about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, and no one accused me of being a liberal then. It’s very interesting to way you can be sort of pigeonholed. I like to think of myself politically as ‘correct’…I don’t have a rooting interest other than in what happens to the country.”

- Keith Olbermann , July 28, 2006.

[. . .] I outlined the specific points [concerning blocking North Korean development of nuclear weapons] and with very little equivocation, he agreed. I think it’s all roses now. [. . .] In my opinion, this was one of those perfect agreements where both sides won and got what they wanted and [where] nobody blinked, nobody had to yield.”

- Jimmy Carter , June 22, 1994.

I’m a global citizen; the world’s ills are my fault.

“I’m a global citizen. Slavery: my fault. Inequality: my fault. Global environmental degradation: my fault. Population explosion: my fault. But I think I can do something about all of it . . .”

- Ted Turner

- Ted Turner

Brits are smarter than Americans.

“Brits are far more intelligent and civilized than Americans.”

- Gwyneth Paltrow , February 2006.

America is too capitalistic.

“I love the English way, which is not as capitalistic as it is in America.”

- Gwyneth Paltrow , January 2006.

Children should not think for themselves.

“You can’t make Socialists out of individualists — children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.”

- John Dewey

Men are putzes.

“I’m under the assumption that most men are putzes.”

- Harry Smith

Hog producers are a greater threat than Osama bin Laden.

“Large-scale hog producers are a greater threat to the United States and U.S. democracy than Osama bin Laden and his terrorist network.”

- Robert F. Kennedy Jr
