Wes Vernon
Wes Vernon, a veteran broadcast journalist, is prepared to discuss media bias from the standpoint of firsthand experience and his own expertise in the way the media works.
Now a writer for NewsMax.com, a popular conservative website, Wes has written hundreds of reports and commentaries on a variety of topics including the Rathergate scandal at CBS which he describes as the tip of the iceberg and a train wreck that was years in the making.
He has also covered such history-making events as Al Gore's attempt to steal the election in 2000. He broke the story of the Clinton administration operatives trashing White House property before leaving in January, 2000.
As a Washington journalist for more than 35 years, Wes Vernon has seen media bias from the inside. He was a correspondent for 25 years at the CBS Radio Stations News Service (not a part of CBS News).
He has covered Capitol Hill, the White House and a host of federal agencies. Many national and world leaders, as well as authors and political activists were guests on Vernon's "Crosstalk" radio program. One broadcast editor said of Wes that there is "probably not a better expert on the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives." He covered the Republican and Democratic national conventions from 1964 to 1996, attended the Republican convention in 2000 and for NewsMax he covered the Republican convention in 2004.
For nearly 20 years, Wes Vernon was a friend of the late Reed Irvine, founder of Accuracy in Media.
Born in New York City, he spent 18 years living in the Rocky Mountain states before leaving Salt Lake City in 1968 to open the Washington bureau of the Utah-based Bonneville Broadcasting company. In 1972 he went to CBS Radio.
Wes Vernon lives with his wife in the Washington, D.C. area. He has four children and nine grandchildren.
