Jim Nelson Black


Jim Nelson Black, Ph.D. is founder and senior analyst of Sentinel Research Associates in Washington, DC, and is the former executive director of the Wilberforce Forum, a public policy think tank and research institute headed by Charles Colson. An author, educator, and researcher, Dr. Black has written six books on social and cultural issues and has served as editor and collaborator on many others. He holds a Ph.D. in Humanities, specializing in comparative literature and languages, from the University of Texas at Arlington, and completed his final year of doctoral study and dissertation research at the University of Paris (Sorbonne). He is a recipient of the Medaille Vermeil of the Société Academique Arts–Sciences–Lettres of the French Academy.

Dr. Black's most recent book, Freefall of the American University, explores the radicalization of the university since the sixties and features interviews with more than two dozen distinguished faculty members, students, and recent graduates of elite universities. He is a member of the National Association of Scholars and the Heritage Foundation, and a former professor of comparative and world literatures in the U.S. and abroad. He has spoken to university audiences across the country on topics such as "What's Happening to America's Colleges?" and "The Future of Civilization: Do We Have One?"
