Dear Mr. Jones:
Journalist Kenneth Timmerman’s new book Shadow Warriors charges—and cites evidence—that Washington Post reporter Dana Priest’s 2006 Pulitzer Prize-winning story on CIA “secret prisons” was based largely on the work of London-based journalist Stephen Grey. Priest did not give Grey any credit for his work, even though his story on the same subject had appeared 18 months earlier in the British New Statesman. You should personally investigate this matter and turn it over to your ombudsman, Deborah Howell, for an additional inquiry. The Pulitzer Prize Board has also been asked to look into it.
