Mr. Joshua B. Bolten
Chief of Staff to the Preside
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. Bolten:

John Bolton had done a magnificent job for the U.S. at the U.N. and deserves the full support of the White House. The White House should make sure he remains at the U.N. Frankly, we also need a John Bolton-type figure running the “public diplomacy” effort at the State Department. The current Under Secretary of State, Karen Hughes, has been defending a U.S. official, Alberto Fernandez, who went on Al-Jazeera and denounced U.S. Iraq policy as stupid and arrogant. He should be fired, and she should be dismissed for failing to understand the damage that is being done to U.S. foreign policy by officials who don’t promote U.S. interests. We will be watching how the White House handles these personnel matters.
