Dear Ms. Van Susteren:

There are more important things in life than getting a few viewers for a short period of time with tabloid TV-type coverage of missing person cases. Your claim that you “program for the viewers” reflects disdain for those viewers concerned about serious issues. What about the Iraq War? The energy crisis? The war on terror? Irresponsible spending by Congress? These are all issues that concern us. And yet you relentlessly pursued the Natalee Holloway case in Aruba, as if this is the important story in the nation and the world. You are doing damage to your show and the Fox News channel in the long run with this kind of sensational coverage. It is not too late to reverse course and get serious about national and world events.
