Dear Mr. Williams:
Congratulations on your series of reports on the autism epidemic. This was a needed examination of a terrible problem affecting millions of families. We suggest that NBC News go one step further and examine the disparities in funding for various diseases. The FAIR Foundation says that more federal money is spent on AIDS than 16 diseases that kill a million more Americans than AIDS annually. FAIR is an acronym for Fair Allocations in Research. It is time for the media to bring the injustices in federal research funding to the public’s attention.
