Mr. Stephane Dujarric
Office of the Spokesman for the Secretary-General
Third Floor
United Nations Headquarters
New York, NY 10017
Dear Mr. Dujarric:
You have refused to identify the names of journalists who have received financial payments from the U.N. or the amounts they have received. You say that while the U.N. does pay journalists to produce “public information material, articles, books or pamphlets,” you will not say who got the money or how much they received. You have also confirmed that some journalists are paid to appear on the U.N. television program, World Chronicle, but wouldn’t provide those names, either. American taxpayers pay about a quarter of the U.N. budget and we have a right to know how you’re spending our money. Stop the cover-up.
